Recruiting Pokémon
How the Roster Ranch works, trial vs permanent recruiting, and where to get tickets.
Checked on Nov 1, 2026
You don't catch Pokémon
There is no catching in Champions. You recruit Pokémon from a list called the Roster Ranch; they come already trained in some way and ready to battle.
The list refreshes
The list changes for free every 22 hours. You can refresh it sooner with Quick Coupons (each one takes 1 hour off the wait) or with VP.
Trial or permanent
- Trial: free, lasts 7 days, and the Pokémon can't be trained.
- Permanent: costs a Teammate Ticket or VP, and you can train the Pokémon however you like.
Where to get tickets and coupons
- The in-game tutorials give one-time rewards: contact moves, weather and terrain give 1 Teammate Ticket each; move priority, physical vs special moves and status conditions give 22 Quick Coupons each; the Doubles battle tutorial gives 10,000 VP.
- The Battle Pass, on both the free and paid tracks, also gives tickets and coupons.
- Online competitions and codes give Quick Coupons and gift Pokémon. Check the events page.
Pokémon HOME
Pokémon recruited from the Roster Ranch, trial or permanent, can't be sent to Pokémon HOME.
Tip
Try a Pokémon on trial before spending a ticket on it. Build the team in ChampForge first and see whether it covers the weaknesses you have.
